Materials:
A computer with an internet connection
Software for recording the podcast and a site to host the podcast
Microphones for the audio recording of the podcast
Sample of podcasts created by students and teachers
3. Participate in classroom discussion of elements to be included in a podcast.
4. Work in small groups to brainstorm a podcast that is appropriate for the audience you plan to address.
5. Create a script or outline of content to be included in the podcast. Determine the length of the podcast and who will make the audio recording (or will this be a group venture) Turn this in to teacher before recoding podcast.
6. Record the podcast.
7. Upload podcasts to class blog.
8. Listen to other podcasts from classmates and complete a peer review.
Assessment:
Using the Rubric below the students will be assessed on creating a podcast
Script or Outline- 15 points
Podcast Content- 15 points
Podcast Mechanics (Voice clarity, Organization, Team effort)- 5 points
Completion of tasks- 5 points
Peer review- 10 points

1.Watch "Podcasting in Plain English" to introduce podcasts to students (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vMgemQahuFM) and this video by 1st graders about making podcasts (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rzw63KRMAMY&feature=related)2. Listen to podcasts created by other students. List any key information they included in their broadcast.
